Day 10 & 11:
Yesterday was definitely my favorite day of camp so far. It
was “Show Day” which meant parents were coming at 2:30 for Beauty and the
Beast. We spent the morning preparing for the show. Again, I worked on scenery.
For some reason they think I’m an artist and ask me to draw. I was pretty
impressed with how some of it came out.
The acting crew worked on the scenes
while the dancing crew worked on the dance. Every Friday for lunch they have
pizza. It’s not just slices either. Every kid and adult gets his or her own pie
to eat. It was delicious. It’s like a thin crust cheese and tomato kind. It
probably was some of the best pizza I ever had. I get an espresso after every
meal. Parents started showing up at 2:30 and the show started. It went so well.
The kids were really excited about it.
I started getting close with these 2
girls. They were styling my hair for a while. They know some English. There
main language is French. One of them is attending the International School of
Torino. I have a feeling a lot of these kids come from money. It sounds like
their parents are from all over and working in Torino. Camp was so hot
yesterday and extremely buggy. I have bug bites all over. There are so many
ants too.
When we got back we went to the market and got a bottle of wine. The
wine here is so cheap and you can buy it anywhere. I showered and got ready for
dinner. We ate dinner around 7:30 and had lots of wine. Our older men friends
were at dinner again. After dinner we had a dance party with them. One of them
tried to teach me how to dance like the Italians do.
It was pretty funny
because I am taller than him. I played DJ on the computer of the restaurant. I
played a bunch of American R & B songs.
I saw the restaurant had a
microphone so I guess they do Karaoke sometimes too. We stayed up drinking wine
with them for a while in the lobby. They are from Naples, Italy.
We had plans
of going to Milan today but Marie is sick. We are just hanging out today. We
are going into Milan on the train tomorrow. It’s about an hour from us on the
train. We got lunch at one of our new favorite spots, One Four Eight. The meal
consisted of spaghetti with French fries and a salad with only lettuce. They
say potatoes, which I didn’t realize, were going to be French fries. It’s a weird
combination, spaghetti and French fries.
The French fries were amazing. We are
going to have dinner at the hotel then go out into town later tonight.
